Trip to Acme

Today the Owls bundled up and headed off across campus to go on an adventure to Acme in search of ingredients to make applesauce. Friends were very excited to go on their first walking trip! Friends were extra thrilled because Alicia was joining us! On our way, Alicia taught friends how to say apple in Spanish. We also talked about the different colors of apples we may see at the store. Sadly, friends learned that we were not going to see a blue apple! Ask your Owl if they remember how to say apple in Spanish.

Friends began to cheer when we got to the soccer fields because they could see Acme in the distance.

Once we got to Greenwood Ave, friends paired up and held hands with their buddy to cross the street.

When we crossed the road, friends spied a black cat by the woods.

Friends cheered when we arrived at Acme! Ask your Owls if they remember what their cheer was!

Once friends were inside, we headed straight to the growing food section.

First stop - the Produce Section!

The Owls talked about the different fruits and vegetables and how they are good for your body and help you grow. Alicia taught friends how to say the different types of fruits and veggies in Spanish.

After a few aisles, friends came to the apple section! Each Owl was able to pick out one apple! Friends had to ask in Spanish if they could have a verde manzana, rojo manzana, or amarillo manzana. Ask your Owl what color apple they chose.

After each friend picked out their apple, we headed off to collect the rest of our ingredients for our applesauce.

The next ingredient friends found was a lemon. The Owls talked about whether or not they thought the lemon was going to be sweet or sour. Friends made the other shoppers laugh when we made our "I just ate a lemon" face.

After we carefully selected our lemon, we headed off to aisle cuatro for some cinnamon and sugar. The Owls found it extra tricky to find the cinnamon because friends thought it sounded like it started with an "S" instead of a "C." After some help friends easily spied the cinnamon and placed it in our basket!

Our last ingredient was sugar! Friends found this ingredient quite easily; however, they did learn that there were LOTS of different types of sugar they could choose from!

Once we placed our sugar in our basket, we headed off to check out! Friends were thrilled to learn that the cashier's name was Cheryl! Friends told her all about our adventure and how we spied a black cat and that we were here to buy the ingredients to make applesauce and how it was going to be the best applesauce ever!

Once we were all finished, friends said their goodbyes to Cheryl and thanked her for letting us visit Acme! Cheryl wished us good luck on our applesauce and our journey back to school! Once outside, friends said one last good bye to Acme and began our journey back to school! Friends did a fantastic job on our first trip and can not wait to for tomorrow to begin making our applesauce!
