Applesauce!

Today was the big day! The Owls made applesauce! To peel the apples, we borrowed the Catbirds apple peeler. Each Owl peeled their own apple. This was hard work. Friends thought it was a good exercise for their arms!

The peeled apples reminded the Owls of a slinky.

Once complete with peeling, the next step was to cut the apples up into tiny pieces. Each Owl was given a plastic knife for chopping.

Some friends said they were mincing their apple pieces.

Next, it was time to add the rest of our ingredients. We added 1/2 a cup of water, 1/2 a cup of sugar, 1 teaspoon of cinnamon, and the juice of a lemon. Friends tried the cinnamon, and all agreed "We like it!"

After we mixed all of the ingredients together, it was time for Spanish with Alicia. Today we flew to Puerto Rico.

Alicia taught us how to say applesauce and all of the ingredients we used in Spanish.
Ask your Owl if they know how to say red, green, and/or yellow apple in Spanish.

To help us remember the Spanish words for the ingredients, we played the swatter game. The Owls love playing this game!
