The Owls had a very exciting and busy morning. Part of our morning included hearing about the story of Hanukkah. The Owls, along with the Cardinals and Catbirds, joined Paula in the library to listen and discuss what Hanukkah is all about. When we entered the library, there were some items on the table. There was a menorah, snow globe, books and Hanukkah cookies. Friends could not wait to find out about each item!
The snow globe sang a special song, Dreidel, Dreidel, Dreidel.
After discussing the story behind Hanukkah, we lit the menorah. We learned that there are eight candles, and one helper candle, called the shamash.
Although tonight would mark the fourth night of Hanukkah, we decided to to light all eight candles to see what it would look like. While lighting the candles, we sang a few songs.
Once the candles were lit, it was time for some Hanukkah cookies and stories. Doris read a couple of stories while we munched on the yummy cookies.
Ask your Owl what else Hanukkah is known as.
