The Owls' morning started off in Art with Amanda. A couple of weeks ago friends sketched their self-portraits, and practiced using clay. Today was the day friends would use those skills to make their own clay self-portraits!
Friends used the "Scratch and Attach" method. Ask your Owl to explain what it means to "Scratch and Attach" using clay.
Friends enjoyed working with clay so much that once they completed their clay self-portraits, they were able to play with the extra pieces.
After Art, the Owls headed back to the classroom for Morning Meeting and a read aloud. We read Have you seen my cat? By Eric Carle.
Ask your Owl what kind of cat they would want to be.
Following Morning Meeting, friends entered into Choice.
During Choice, friends could draw with markers...
...play with trains...
...magnatiles...
...and eat snack, of course!
Next up was Music with Keisha. Friends walked into the music room to the beat of Keisha's drum. Next, we sat down to sing our hello song.
Ask your Owl if they remember the name of the hello song.
We played a really fun game where we pretended to be jack in the boxes. At the end of the song Keisha would say, "Will you come out?" and friends would respond, "Yes, we will!" Then we would gallop, jump, and hop around the room.
Each friend was given a bell to practice Shake and shake and shake and stop!
We sang There's a little wheel turning in my heart.
To end Music class, we sang our goodbye song.
