This morning the Owls had two very special visitors come to our classroom. Kaya's mom, Cherie, and little brother, Jaylen. First, Cherie read us a book and using the clues we had to guess what we would be learning about. From reading, the Owls were able to determine that we would be learning Sign Language!
Friends learned that you use Sign Language if you cannot talk, and to help understand what someone may need and is saying.
After reading, we learned how to Sign the alphabet. Friends were able to manipulate their fingers to represent each letter.
Next, having learned the alphabet, each Owl learned how to Sign their name.
Ask your Owl if they can tell you their name using Sign Language.
The Owls also learned how to Sign for friend, what is your name, and I love you.
Afterwards, friends entered into Choice Time. Friends chose between drawing, magnatiles, sandbox, The Little Seed, and snack.
The Owls loved learning Sign Language so much that during Choice they could be heard asking Cherie how to Sign for bird, birthday, flower and more.
The sun is out and it is warm! Outside the Owls explored in the pond, building area, and playing on the climber. Friends also opened up their shops, with some selling bits of nature.
